Location

Costa Rica is bordered to the north with Nicaragua and to the southeast by Panama, to the west by the Pacific Ocean with 1016 km (630mi) and to the East by the Caribbean Sea with 212km (131 mi). With only 5100 square km (19000 square mi) Costa Rica is the size of West Virginia. A series of mountain ranges divide the country and in between these mountain ranges is the heart of Costa Rica the Central Valley. This is where most of the population leaves and where most of the industry is located. San José is the capital and most of the government buildings are located within its limits. Museums, theaters, restaurants, shopping malls, fast-food chains, colorful markets and a fine climate are part of the central valley.
